Full description

Canary Melon is a classic heirloom melon variety known for its bright yellow, smooth-skinned fruits and sweet, juicy, pale green to white flesh. The melon is oval-shaped, averaging 4–7 pounds, with a refreshing, mild flavor ideal for fresh eating, fruit salads, or desserts. Plants are vigorous vining types that thrive in warm, sunny conditions. Non-GMO and organically grown, Canary Melon is perfect for gardeners seeking flavourful, easy-to-grow melons with reliable yields.

Full Growing information from seed:

  • Start seeds indoors 3–4 weeks before last frost in peat pots or soil blocks
  • Sow seeds ½ inch deep in well-draining seed-starting mix
  • Keep soil warm (70–80°F) and evenly moist for germination
  • Germination occurs in 7–10 days
  • Transplant seedlings after hardening off and when all frost danger has passed
  • Space plants 24–36 inches apart in rows 4–6 feet apart
  • Provide fertile, well-drained soil and full sun
  • Mulch around plants to retain moisture and control weeds
  • Water consistently at the base of the plant; avoid wetting leaves
  • Fertilize lightly once fruit begins to form
  • Provide trellis support if desired, or allow vines to sprawl
  • Harvest when the skin turns bright yellow and rind is slightly firm
