Our Iron pastel blend evokes the colors of candies and marshmallows. This uniform series is ideal for one-cut harvest, with strong, straight stems that have performed well in trials over spring, summer, and fall. A selection of singles and 55% doubles is available. In comparison to Katz, Iron flowers slightly later and has more compact 1.5-2" blooms with shorter, thicker stems. Please note that each plant produces one flowering stem; pinching is not recommended as it will halt flowering.

• Edible Flowers: The peppery, clove-like flavor of the flowers lends itself well to use as a garnish on salads, desserts, and drinks.

Ht. 24–28"Soil: well-draining, rich potting mix or garden soil with good moisture retention is ideal for these foliage plants. Avoid waterlogged conditions.

  • LIFE CYCLE: Annual.

  • USES: Excellent cut flower. Beds, borders, and containers.

  • CULTURE: Transplant (recommended) - Sow " deep, into

  • 128-cell plug flats 5-6 weeks before last frost. After danger of frost has passed, harden-off plants and transplant to the field or protected structure. Direct seed - After last frost. Do not pinch plants.

  • Succession-plant every two weeks for multiple harvests. Stock is a cool-weather crop. Spring and fall-blooming successions are optimal. Stock is a member of the Brassica plant family and susceptible to flea beetle predation.

  • To prevent flea beetle damage, cover plants with row cover at the time of transplanting.

  • GERMINATION: 7-14 days at 65-75°F (18-24°C).

  • LIGHT/SOIL REQUIREMENTS: Sun in well-drained, moderately rich soil.

  • SPACING: 6" apart. Trellis, such as Hortonova, used as horizontal support, is necessary when the temperatures are consistently above 60°F (16°C) or where it rains frequently.

  • HARVEST: Fresh - Harvest when ⅓-½ the florets on the stem are open.
