Yarrow Mix – (Achillea millefolium) Mix Non-GMO - Organically Grown - Flower
Perennial
Description:
This Achillea millefolium mix features an array of vibrant colors, including white, pink, yellow, red, and orange, making it a versatile choice for wildflower meadows, borders, and pollinator gardens. Known for its feathery, fern-like foliage and flat-topped clusters of tiny flowers, Yarrow is a hardy perennial that thrives in a variety of conditions. Its long-lasting blooms attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects while being deer- and rabbit-resistant.
Height: 18–36 inches
Spread: 12–24 inches
Bloom Time: Early summer to late autumn
Growing Instructions:
Sun Requirements: Full sun (tolerates light shade but flowers best in full sun).
Soil: Adaptable to many soil types but thrives in well-drained, sandy or loamy soil with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH (6.5–8.0). Avoid overly rich soil, as it can result in floppy growth.
Watering: Drought-tolerant once established. Water sparingly to prevent overwatering, as Yarrow prefers drier conditions.
Planting:
1. Sow seeds directly outdoors in spring after the danger of frost has passed, or in autumn for earlier blooms the following year.
2. For indoor starting, sow seeds 8–10 weeks before the last frost. Lightly press seeds into the soil surface without covering, as light aids germination.
3. Space plants 12–24 inches apart for proper air circulation.
Maintenance:
• Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering.
• Trim plants back by one-third in midsummer to encourage a second flush of blooms.
• Divide clumps every 3–4 years to maintain vigor and prevent overcrowding.
Stratification Requirements:
Stratification is not strictly necessary for Yarrow, but it can enhance germination:
1. Place seeds in a sealed plastic bag with a small amount of damp sand or vermiculite.
2. Refrigerate for 2–4 weeks.
3. After stratification, sow seeds as per planting instructions.
Additional Notes:
This Achillea millefolium mix is excellent for erosion control and thrives in poor soils. It is also a fantastic choice for cut or dried flower arrangements due to its long-lasting blooms. In addition to its ornamental value, Yarrow is traditionally used in herbal medicine for its anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties.
