Squash - Bianco Lungo - Courgettes Bianca Di Sicilia Zucchini Italian Heirloom White Squash NonGMO Vegetable

Annual

Summer

Lungo Bianco di Sicilia is an Italian heirloom variety that has a very pale green, almost white skin, and it is a slender zucchini, though it gets bulbous towards the end opposite the stem. When small, the zucchini will have no ribbing, but ribbing appears as they grow larger.

This variety is a very popular, and a hard to find squash variety, which is also known as Bianco Lungo Cylindrical, and just to confuse things...it is sometimes known as Zucchini Lungo Bianco. This summer squash has a sweet, mild flavour.

Bianco Lungo has a bush type growing habit that makes it an excellent choice for small gardens and containers, and is an excellent producer. Harvest fruits when they are about 8 inches long.

  • Full Sun
  • Soil: nutrient rich and well draining
  • Sow direct outdoors under cover (protected) from mid spring, 3 to 4 seeds 1in deep, in a 3in pot in good compost, and thin later to the best one or two plants per clump.
Transplant no later than 3 weeks after seeding as cucumbers have a tap root that can be easily damaged. Ensure the weather is warm if planting outside, ensuring a sheltered and sunny position.
To avoid bitterness, keep plants evenly moist at all times.
Can be trained on a trellis to save garden space or left to roam.
Keep them picked and they’ll keep producing
