Shallot - ZeBrune (Allium ascalonicum) Non GMO & Organic French Shallot Heirloom Vegetable
This variety is a well known French heirloom shallot that is sometimes referred to as an eschalion, or banana shallot. Has the texture of an onion and the flavour of a shallot.
Great for added a sweet mild flavour and storage improves the sweetness.
- Start the seeds indoors early in the year and transplant in early spring.
- Make the holes first, drop the seedlings into soil and water in gently and lightly cover with soil or sow directly after all risk of frost has passed; sow very thinly in 1.2 cm (½in) deep drills, leaving about 25 to 30 cm (10 to 12 in) between rows. Water very gently if the soil is dry, and cover with soil.
- When large enough to handle, thin the crop to 8 to 10 cm apart.
