Pepper - Sunbright Yellow Bell (Capsicum annuum) Non GMO & Organic Sweet Yellow Bell Peppers Vegetable
Annual
Sunbright is a beautiful bright canary yellow bell pepper variety. Plants are sturdy with a bush habit, growing 61 to 91cm (24to 36 in) tall with a 45 to 76cm (18 to 30 in) spread. Sunbright is a high yielding pepper plant that produces green peppers and as they ripen, they turn a bright, canary yellow. Peppers are block shaped and can become 12 to 18 cm (5 to 7") long and have thick fleshy walls.
Yellow Bell Peppers, like all peppers, are full of great health benefits and are an excellent source of vitamin A, vitamin C, and potassium. Bell Peppers also contain a healthy dose of fibre, folate, and iron. The flavour is sweet juicy and has a nice crispness to the texture; flavour is enhanced when cooked, and can be eaten raw or cooked.
Sweet bell peppers need full sun to grow and ripen properly, so keep them in a sunny spot in your vegetable garden—unless you live in a climate susceptible to extremely high heat and intense sunlight, in which case shade cloth or nearby plants can be used to manage temperatures.
- Start seeds indoors first.
- To germinate, fill a planting tray with soil and plant seeds no deeper than 1/4-inch. Deeper planting will reduce the number of seeds that germinate
- Water lightly; allow the top surface of the soil to dry out before watering again. Keeping the soil constantly damp will encourage disease; good air circulation is also important to their survival. A small fan near the seedlings will improve the germination percentage and make the seedlings healthier
- Yellow bell peppers should germinate in 12 to 25 days
- Water, provide warmth - place the seeds near a heating pad if necessary and keep seeds in temperatures of at least 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Plants should be 6 to 10 weeks old with dark green colour, thick stems, and no blooms.
- Harden off gradually to transplant after all risk of frost has passed and pinch off any blooms so the plant will put its energy into adjustment after transplant. Wait until the last frost date for your zone has passed and nighttime temperatures are above 50° F, and your seedlings are hardened.
- Peppers are warm-season crops that grow best at temperatures of 70 to 80° F during the day and 60 to 70° during the night.
- Spacing: plant pepper plants 18 in apart, in rows 30 to 36 inches apart. Grow plants closer together if temperatures are below 60°F. Closer spacing requires fertilizer at planting and during the summer.
- Seed Count: 20
