Perennial
Height: 1.5 m 3-4 ft
Liatris, also known as Blazing Star, shoots bolt upright out of the garden on long sturdy dense spikes that sport majestic fluffy wands of bright lavender purple blooms and narrow grass like leaves. Great accent plant in a border, cottage or wild garden
- Excellent as a cut flower
- Blooms in midsummer 4-6 weeks
- Prefers moist soil but will tolerate poor soil
- Full sun
- Deer resistant
- Start indoors or sow directly in the garden in early spring. Seeds should germinate in 20-45 days. Seed germination is improved after a pre-treatment of 4 to 6 weeks of cold moist stratification or when planted outside in the fall or early winter. Use trays and sterile potting mix. Gently press seeds into the surface of the soil; lightly cover the wildflower seeds. Keep the flower seeds moist until germination and transplant outdoors after danger of frost has passed.
- Attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds
- Seed count: 1/2 gr
