Lemon Thyme Citrodoris (Thymus citriodorus) Non-GMO - Organically Grown - Herb

Perennial

Lemon Thyme Citrodoris, also known by its Latin name Thymus citriodorus, is a fragrant perennial herb in the mint family. This variety of thyme is noted for its lemon-scented leaves and is often used in cooking, teas, or for medicinal purposes due to its soothing properties.

Growing Instructions:

Sunlight: Prefers full sun to partial shade. Ensure it gets at least 4-6 hours of direct sunlight each day for optimal growth.

Soil: Well-drained, light, and slightly alkaline soil is ideal. Avoid heavy clay or soggy soil as it can cause root rot.

Watering: Water moderately, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root diseases. It’s drought-tolerant once established.

Spacing: Space plants 12-18 inches apart to allow for spreading.

Stratification & Propagation:

Seeds: If starting from seed, it’s best to sow indoors in early spring. No cold stratification is needed for Thymus citriodorus, but it requires light for germination. Lightly press seeds into the soil and keep moist.

Transplanting: Transplant seedlings outdoors once the danger of frost has passed. This herb grows best when established in well-drained garden beds or containers.

Care: Once established, Lemon Thyme Citrodoris requires little maintenance. Prune the plant regularly to promote fresh growth and to prevent it from becoming too woody. You can harvest leaves throughout the growing season. Trim the plant back in the fall before frost for best health and longevity.

Seed count: 25

Uses: Aside from its culinary uses, this thyme variety is also a great addition to herbal teas and can be used in aromatherapy or for insect repellent purposes due to its citrus scent. It is an excellent choice for herb gardens, containers, or edging in landscaping.
