Brassica juncea is a herb commonly called brown mustard, and is also known as leaf mustard, Oriental mustard, vegetable mustard, Indian mustard and Chinese mustard and is a species of the mustard plant. Great peppery taste! Adds zip to foods; can be eaten raw or cooked. Mustard is a member of the brassica genus vegetables which also includes kale, collards, broccoli and cauliflower. Commonly used as a salad green, pot herb or braising green.

- Mustard may be direct seeded or transplanted.
- Sow seeds in a sunny site every 2 weeks for successive harvests from April to August ( cool weather)
- Plant seeds ¼ in deep, 6 seeds per row foot, spacing: 18–24 in between rows.
- As the plants grow, thin to one plant every 8–12 inches, eating the thinnings
- OR start seeds indoors 3-4 weeks before last frost date and transplant outdoors when all risk of frost has passed.
- Matures in 40-50 days; baby greens can be harvested at 6 in
