Corn - Painted Mountain ( Zea mays) Maize Open Pollinated Organic Corn Vegetable

Annual

Painted Mountain was bred in the mountains of Montana, USA. and boasts an impressive cold hardiness, earliness, drought tolerance, and thrives at high altitudes.

Montana farmer, Dave Christensen, has dedicated his life to breeding a corn that flourishes naturally in harsh conditions. Since the 1970s, Dave has sampled over 70 open-pollinated corn varieties and successfully created Painted Mountain from several heirlooms that were grown by northern Native American tribes, and homesteaders from harsh northern climates over thousands of years.

The bright color of the Painted Mountain kernels indicate a high nutrient content, making this an excellent corn for decoration and consuming; can be eaten fresh, ground, or roasted, and makes a highly nutritious flour for muffins, johnny cakes, tortillas, and chips!
