This variety is flavourful with stocky roots about 4 to 5 inches (10-13 cm.) long and 2 to 2 ½ inches thick (5-6.5 cm.) that taper to a blunt end. Chantenay carrots have a golden light orange flesh with bright orange red coloured core. Tasty!

- Direct sow 3 to 4 seedsper 2.5cm (1”) at 5-12mm (¼-½") deep. Space rows 30-45cm (12-18") apart. Cover seeds lightly with soil and water lightly; thin carrots when they are 7-8cm (3”) tall and space out to 2.5cm (1”).
- Starting seeds indoors: carrot seeds are naturally slow germinators - speed things up a bit by priming the seeds indoors. Starting three to four days before you plan to sow them, soak carrot seeds in water for an hour, and then transfer them to a damp paper towel. Fold to enclose the seeds, then put inside an airtight container
