Similar in shape to the classic green zucchini but has a sweeter taste.
- Start seed indoors in pots and seed starting mix. Sow seed ½ to 1 inch (13mm-2.5 cm) deep. Seeds germinate in 7 to 10 days at 85°F (29°C) or warmer. Transplant summer squash into the garden after the soil has warmed to at least 70°F (21°C).
- Prefers full sun with rich, well-draining soil. Dig finished compost or well-rotted manure into the beds, and dig in 1 cup of complete organic fertilizer beneath each transplant. Water the soil around them when you irrigate and avoid overhead watering - wet zucchini leaves will attract mildew.
- Use in sweet or savory recipes, raw or cooked just as you would green zucchini.
