Marjoram - Sweet Marjoram (Origanum Majorana) Aromatic Perennial Herb

The leaves of Sweet Majoram add a strong, spicy flavour to cooking; similar but milder flavour to that of oregano. A popular flavouring in German sausages, meatloaf, stuffing and potato soup but also adds a nice addition to cooked vegetables, salads and vinaigrettes. A good source of vitamin K and manganese. Tops are used as a natural dye to colour wool in shades of yellow, orange, brown and grey.

  • Prefers full sun
  • start the seeds indoors during late winter or early spring. Push seeds just below the soil surface. Seedlings can be transplanted outdoors once all threat of frost has passed. 
  • Plant in full sun in rich, well draining soil.
  • Once established, sweet marjoram is sensitive to overwatering, subject to root rot. Prune often to promote bushier growth.
