Sage - Broad Leaved (Salvia Officinalis) Non-GMO Organic

Perennial

Height 20 in to 3 ft

Broad Leaved Sage, also known as garden sage, broadleaf sage and culinary sage, is a shrubby drought-resistant perennial with broad silvery leaves and pollinator attractive lavender flowers. The leaves have a tempting aroma, a savory flavor,  and were traditionally used for poultry stuffing and meat seasoning.

Sage has great mosquito-repelling properties; excellent for container growing and for garden borders. Fresh or dried sage leaves are useful for a variety of medicinal purposes, for making a soothing tea, or to use in the kitchen as a great, versatile culinary herb.

There are many varieties of sage, but common sage, and this is the variety you'll likely want to plant in your herb garden. Sage has a pronounced herbal flavor that is an earthy, slightly peppery taste with hints of mint, eucalyptus, and lemon. It works well in heavier dishes with rich ingredients that can hold their own against such a bold flavor.

Everyone knows that the leaves are commonly used for culinary use...did you know that sage flowers can also be eaten? Sage flowers have a delicate light taste and make a fantastic garnish for salads. Sage attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.
