Spookie is a fantastic choice for making yummy pumpkin pies! The flavour is sweet. This variety is a cross between Sugar Pie and Jack O Lantern varieties and was developed in 1966.
High yielding vines produce uniform pumpkins with finely textured yellow orange flesh and smooth red orange skin and they come in at about 6 lbs (and 7 in across).
Note: heavy feeders and will require high nitrogen. Plant into fertile soil or amend with compost or manure. Heavy water needs; best to mulch and supply adequate water, at least 1 in per week for optimum growth.

- Germinates 7-10 days; germination temperature: soil temperatures 70-90ºF. Planting in soil under 70ºF may result in poor germination.
- Start seeds Indoors 3-4 weeks before the last frost. Plant seeds ½ -1 in deep
- and 2-3 seeds per cells/pots. Thin to the strongest seedling Note: planting in pots provides the least amount of stress to the roots when transplanting.
- Transplant after last frost when the soil warms to 70ºF.
- Space 36-48 in apart, in rows 48-60 in apart.
- OR direct sow after the last frost when soil reaches at least 70ºF. Sow 2-3 seeds per space/hill, 36-48 in apart, in rows 48-60 in apart.
- Harvest: skin turns color and the rinds are harder.
- Storage: leave a few inches of the stem on for best storage potential.
