Full Description

Persicaria orientalis, commonly known as Kiss-Me-Over-the-Garden-Gate, is a striking ornamental annual grown for its long, cascading tassels of deep pink to crimson flowers. The blooms hang elegantly from tall, branching stems and are highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.

This plant creates a dramatic vertical presence in the garden, often reaching 1.2–2 metres tall in a single season. The lush green foliage provides a beautiful contrast to the vibrant flowers, making it ideal for cottage gardens, pollinator gardens, and as a statement plant at the back of borders.

Originally native to Asia, Persicaria orientalis has a long history in traditional medicine and ornamental horticulture. It is fast-growing, easy to cultivate, and produces an abundance of flowers from mid-summer until frost.
