Pale Corydalis , also known as Rock Harlequin, is a lacy biennial with delicate and compound leaves that are divided into many lobes. During its first summer a basal rosette is produced, but in its second year the plant sends up many branched stems, each tipped with bleeding heart

Corydalis species, provide a critical nectar source for foragers early in the growing season. This is an attractive annual native for rocky, shallow soil sites and cooler climates. 

    • If planting seed late spring or early summer they can be biennial. 
    • With natural seed dispersal, fall or early spring plantings are annual.
    • Full sun ( not extreme heat) to part shade
    • Prefers well draining soil
    • Start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks prior to last frost. Fill a seedling tray with moistened potting mix. Place seeds on the surface of the mix. Moisten the soil well, and cover the pot with a clear lid or plastic wrap. Keep soil consistently moist and provide darkness for germination.
    • Germination can be irregular and may take several weeks to months.
    • Once sprouted, transplant outdoors when the soil warms up and seedlings are strong enough to handle
    • in nature, the seeds are dispersed by ants; harvest when ripe to save seeds or allow to self seed.
