Biennial

Height  1.5 m  5 ft

Spectacular plant for any border or garden! Motherwort is commonly called honeyweed or Siberian motherwort, and is a herbaceous plant species native to Asia and Siberia. The parts that grow above the ground are used to make medicine. While valuable as a heart tonic and for menstrual issues, Siberian Motherwort is traditionally used as a mild narcotic, with mild hallucinogenic effects. When ingested as a tea, it has a relaxing sedative effect. When harvesting leaves protection is recommended as it can cause skin irritation. Motherwort is naturalized in many parts of the world including South, Central and North Americas.

Member of the mint family, and one of the most important plants families in the herb world. Siberian Motherwort is a spectacularly naturalistic and vigorous annual with whorls of pinkish flowers on tall stalks. It creates a real presence of height at the back of borders.
