Gazania splendens, also known as the Treasure Flower, is native to South Africa, and is a compact growing flower that forms clumps of dark green, silver foliage and produces extra large and brilliant multi-coloured, solid and striped, daisy-like blooms that range from hot yellows, reds, oranges and bright pinks that blooms from summer to early autumn. 

This variety is perfect for containers, hanging baskets, and window boxes. Also great for adding colour to borders or used as a ground cover. Gazania Splendens seeds are easy to germinate and establish - can be grown as a tender perennial in warmer climates, or as an annual in colder climate zones.

  • Well draining, light sandy soil is preferred but is not fussy
  • Heat tolerant 
  • Drought tolerant
  • Direct seed after last frost. Cover seed lightly. 
  • OR start indoors 6 to 8 weeks before last frost. Transplant to outdoors after risk of frost has passed.
  • Germinate @ 18C in darkness. Germinates in 14 to 21 days.
  • Spacing: 40cm
  • Harvesting: wait until the petals have fallen from the flower heads and the heads should be brown; cut them off with pruning shears and place the heads in paper bags and dry for approximately 10 days
