Foxglove - Apricot (Digitalis purpurea) Apricot Foxgloves Open Pollinated Flower
Biennial
Height 2 to 3 ft
Gorgeous soft-coloured freckled peachy apricot blooms on spikes about 2-3 ft tall. Perfect for the quintessential 'cottage garden' style, or makes a valuable addition to the cutting garden. Use as an accent at the back of a border...and if you look closely, bumble bees will curl up and sleep in the blooms! Perfect to contract with Black Peony Poppies!
- Full sun to light shade
- Biennial plants produce a rosette of foliage the first year and flowers abundantly in year two.
- For flowers the first year, sow indoors very early (December or January) 2-3 weeks before last frost.
- Seeds take 14-21 days to germinate.
- If starting indoors, provide bright light and a soil temperature of 15-18°C (60-65°F). Sow on the surface, keep moist, and under light. Better as transplant seedlings when they are old enough to handle and plant outdoors in sunny spot.
- Prefers full sun; and thrives in moist shady areas.
- Toxic if ingested; keep children and pets from digesting
- Each plant will produce thousands of tiny seeds - to avoid self sowing cut the stalks down as soon as flowering has finished and if you want to keep seeds for next season; cut stalks and place seeds in a paper envelope for replanting
- Attracts insects and bumble bees
- Seed Count: 100
