Purple Orach, produces burgundy colored leafy plants into early summer with prolific growth, developing smooth burgundy-colored 2" leaves, and is used as an alternative to spinach, as it is less bitter and has a more savory flavor when cooked or eaten fresh. As the tender leaves grow they produce a less bitter flavor, before going to seed.
