One of the best tasting romaine lettuce varieties! Perfect for single serve individual heads! Little Gem is an open pollinated variety which produces smaller, palm sized heads that average around 4 in in diameter.

The heads are best picked when they are 4 inch round and plants are 6" tall, and have developed tender blanched hearts.

Lettuce is a cool weather crop and best planted in Spring or Fall. Plant short rows at regular weekly intervals (April to July) for an ongoing productive harvest and have a continuous crop!

start seeds indoors about 3 -4 weeks prior to last frost; plant seeds 1/4 in deep or, if surface sown, keep the soil evenly and slightly moist until the seeds germinate. Transplant when all risk of frost has passed.

Harvest: lettuce regrows after leaves are cut or picked off the stem. As long as there is 1-2 inches of stem and leaves at the base, lettuce will shoot new growth in as little as a week. This is called the cut and come again harvesting method.
