The Oriental Yard Long produces bean pods that can grow to be anywhere from one to three feet long! Each plant grows in a unique way, and are fascinating to watch as they grow. Yard-long beans have a taste similar to that of a green bean
The pods cook very quickly due to their shape. Pods grow long and are slightly heavy, so they will need a strong support from a fence or structure as their vines grow up; this will also provide plants with plenty of room for the pods to grow to their full size and weight. The plant can grow in a variety of climates, thriving in zones 3 to 9 .

- Loose soil, PH of 6-7, soil must be warm to germinate, grow in late spring - can tolerate acidic soils
- Sow seeds 1 to 2 in deep, with a space of 3 to 4 in between plants. Water often to avoid wilting.
- The pods take around 2 to 3 months to reach maturity, at which point they should be anywhere from one to three feet long.
- Once pods begin to reach this size, they should be harvested each day to encourage production on the vine.
