Black Trifele is one of the darkest and best of the black tomato varieties. Originally from Russia, this is an excellent choice for sandwiches, salads and cooking. Plants a very productive, and produce mahogany coloured medium to larger sized fruits that are unusually pear shaped; these tomatoes are meaty, highly flavourful, typically blemish free ,and rarely split. Japanese Black Trifele produces potato leafed plants that are indeterminate and can produce tomatoes for an extended period in Zones 9 and 10.

Tomatoes love rich soil. Add some compost when setting out.
