A culinary staple used in savoury meats and baking. This standard variety of rosemary has an upright, bushy growth, with woody stems, and sticky aromatic evergreen leaves that are rich in oils that smell of pine and the sea. And looks fantastic in bloom or not it!
Rosemary is widely used as a spice when cooking-especially Mediterranean dishes; also used for fragrance in soaps and cosmetics. Traditionally, rosemary has been used medicinally to improve memory, relieve muscle pain and used in spa treatments.
Rosemary is a rich source of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, which are thought to also help boost the immune system and improve blood circulation. Laboratory studies have shown rosemary to be rich in antioxidants, which play an important role in neutralizing harmful particles called free radicals.
