Mizuna is a type of Japanese mustard. Also known as Shui Cai ( water greens) and California peppergrass to name a few.
Leaves are light green, thin, light-green, and deeply-cut. Mizuna is slightly sweet tasting and is a cross between arugula and mustard; it has a mild yet sweet peppery taste that is excellent when eaten raw in salads; in Japan, mizuna is eaten pickled, stir fried, simmered or added to hot pot dishes.
- Seeds can be planted for cut and come again harvests; or cut the whole plant down leaving an inch above the ground and it will re-grow. Harvest individual leaves as needed.
- Mizuna works well in containers, and makes excellent, fast-growing microgreens and baby leaf salad greens.
- sow seeds directly outdoors after all risk of frost has passed
- OR start in a greenhouse 3 to 4 weeks prior to last frost date; plant seeds 1/4 in and transplant outdoors once all risk of frost has passed
- intolerant of drought - ensure to keep soil moist
- For continuous harvest sow every 2 to 3 weeks
- Seed Count: 25
