Corn - Peaches and Cream - (Zea mays subsp. mays) Peaches N Cream Corn Non GMO & Organic Vegetable

Delicious gourmet bicolour corn. One of the sweetest and most tender corns developed. Great tasting yellow and white kernels.

The ideal time to start seeds indoors is about four or five weeks before the last frost. Fill sterilized containers with seed-starting mix and sow one or two seeds in each cell at a depth of 1 inch. Water regularly to keep the soil moist.

  • Direct Sowing: sweet corn seed scan appear shrunken and shrivelled; before they can germinate, they must slowly plump up with water.
  • Sow sweet corn seed in full sun when the soil warms to between 60 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Sweet corn does not germinate well in cold soil.
  • Direct sow seeds 2-5cm (1-2″) deep about 7.5cm (3″) apart, in rows 60-90cm (24-36″) apart.
  • Because corn is wind pollinated, plant in a block (or circle) of at least 4 rows for cross pollination.
  • Early varieties of sweet corn generally require 70 to 80 days to reach maturity, while main crop types may require up to 100 days. The corn tassels about 20 days before the kernels are ready for harvest.
  • When corn is ready to harvest, the corn silk turns from a light blond colour to a dark brown. When the corn silk is dark brown all the way down to the husk, the corn is ready to harvest.
  • Before you begin picking the corn, make sure it is in the “milk stage.”  To double check the ripeness of the corn, pull back the husk a little bit and take a peek at the kernels. Puncture the kernel and look for milky liquid inside. If it's clear, the kernels aren't quite ready. If there is no liquid, you've waited too long
